As the garage door motor lifts the door it pushes against the limit switch in blue in the diagram causing the motor to cut out at the correct height. Slowly close your door about halfway and release it. From here lift the garage door by hand about 3 feet above the ground and then release the door and see were it lands. Move the limit switch to try and solve this issue.

Start by making sure your garage door is open all the way. The limit adjusters control how far the garage door goes up and how far it goes down.
